Hezbollah Lebanon and US government holding secret talks

For all Hezbollah’s talk about being a resistance movement against US and Zionist imperialism, and the US talk about fighting Hezbullah’s terrorism, it turns out the two supposed enemies are holding secret talks!

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Ra’i (The Opinion) yesterday reported that the UK government is mediating secret, indirect talks between the US government and Hezbollah Lebanon, focusing on a ‘joint fight’ against Al-Qaida and on regional ‘stability’. Quoting senior diplomats in London and Washington, the article claims that, because the US, unlike the UK, regards Hezbollah a terrorist organisation and so US officials cannot legally meet with any member of the group, London is playing a mediating role.

It is, perhaps, the next logical step after the American-Iranian nuclear deal.
